NIRSA Presents at First Campus of the Future Conference

HONOLULU, HI -- The National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) made the case for administrators to invest in campus recreational sports at the Campus of the Future: A Meeting of the Minds, a conference held in early July in Honolulu. The Association of Higher Education Facilities Officers, the National Association of College and University Business Officers, and the Society for College and University Planning presented the first-of-its-kind joint conference.

NIRSA Executive Director Dr. Kent Blumenthal; Dr. Lloyd Hisaka, University of Hawaii at Manoa; and Kathleen Hatch, Washington State University, presented the NIRSA exhibit, “Collegiate Recreational Sports Programs & Facilities – The Veritable Campus Atlas Supporting Higher Education,” at the poster session. The exhibit urged administrators to continue investing in quality and professionally administered campus recreational sports programs and facilities. It stressed that improved recruitment and retention, and enhanced student satisfaction and success are part of the return on investment for higher education communities that actively support and sustain these student-centered campus operations.
