Registry Steps Closer

CORVALLIS, OR — The National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association's (NIRSA) Board of Directors unanimously approved authorizing up to $15,000 from its Emergency and Initiative Fund to underwrite costs associated with hiring a consultant to provide an implementation plan for a National Professional Registry for Recreational Sports Professionals.

The consultant will examine and make recommendations regarding program cost estimates, professional involvement credits, extending continuing education unit offerings to regional and state events, establishment of a Registry Governing Board and other areas. The registry would bring prestige and serve as a professional development vehicle, according to NIRSA.
