Fitness Pros Want More Education

SAN DIEGO, CA — In a survey of health and fitness professionals who attended the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) International Conference this summer, nearly 90 percent wanted more education and more certifications.

  • Although most attendees had certifications, they wanted continued education on program design and assessment; core, balance, flexibility; and special populations.
  • 78 percent preferred information come live from educators, while 22 percent were interested in CD-ROM, on-line, video or via text.
  • 90 percent of those surveyed were personal trainers.
