Virginia YMCA Gets City Workers Moving

Waynesboro, VA— To boost worker productivity, the Waynesboro YMCA in Waynesboro, VA, is launching a 12-month fitness program for city workers, who will be selected through a lottery. The Y will be monitoring the workers’ blood glucose levels, cholesterol levels, heart rate, blood pressure, body fat percentage and weight. The YMCA is selecting the participants today, and the branch will then commence the $15,000 program. “We’re going to see an increase in overall productivity and camaraderie with our coworkers,” said Jeff Hersh, YMCA director. “They’re going to be the pebbles that make a ripple in the pond throughout the whole employee population.”
