PEABODY, MA -- A 6,100-square-foot YMCA with two Olympic-style pools, a rock-climbing wall, aerobics studio, cardio area and free-weights section will open its doors in January 2007 in Peabody, MA. The first-floor lobby will feature a juice bar and computer terminals, and the second floor will house the fitness center. The new YMCA is being constructed on top of the former Y in the same location. Director Greg Griffin says a capital campaign is in full swing to pay for the building.
