JCC Maccabi Games Now Underway

SCOTTSDALE, AZ -- Jewish teenagers around the world are competing in 14 sports in three host cities this week and next week. The 25th annual Olympic-style games are underway in Scottsdale, AZ, and will commence on Aug. 13 in Vancouver, BC, and Stamford, CT. In addition to competing in sporting events, the 13- to 16-year-olds will participate in the Day of Sharing, in which they give back to the local community. The team of athletes from the Tucson, AZ, JCC, are bringing hats, shirts and school supplies to inner-city children and taking the kids to the Arizona Science Center in Phoenix. More than 500 athletes have represented the Tucson JCC during the last decade.
