Fundraising Campaign Begins for Oklahoma Y

ENID, OK -- The Denny Price Family YMCA in Enid, OK, began a fundraising campaign to finance a renovation to expand the cardio and weightlifting areas as well as the development of a teen fitness area, along with new construction of a nursery and administrative offices, according to The Enid News & Eagle.

The $1.6 million project, which will expand the facility by 5,775 square feet, will be funded by local donations as well as state and federal grants. YMCA executive director Ken Rapp told the newspaper that he’d like to break ground on the new project in September. New construction will take place first, then the renovation projects. The entire project should be completed in the winter of 2008, the paper reported.

The renovation is necessary, Rapp told the paper. Since December 2000, membership at the facility has grown from 3,200 members to 7,700.
