Rhode Island AG Dismisses Six Clubs From Lawsuit
PROVIDENCE, RI – The Rhode Island Attorney General’s office said Thursday that it has dismissed six of the 10 clubs from a lawsuit alleging they failed to properly register with the state, according to a report on the TV news Web site www.turnto10.com.
The office also said a hearing to request temporary restraining orders against the other four gyms was put on hold because those clubs are working to comply with the state law, which requires health clubs to register annually with the attorney general’s department and provide proof that they are in compliance with zoning, fire and building codes, and that they are bonded. The gyms faced fines and temporary shutdowns.
