Oklahoma Committee Passes Tax Credit Bill
OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma Senate Finance Committee passed a bill on Feb. 13 that would give a tax credit equal to 20 percent of the cost of membership to a health or fitness club.
State Sen. Mike Mazzei says recipients will need to keep receipts to claim the tax credit and that the bill will not apply to country clubs. Mazzei also says that he hopes the bill will reward healthy behavior and encourage more Oklahomans to begin exercising and adopt healthier lifestyles.
The bill still needs to go through the entire Senate as well as the Oklahoma House of Representatives before it could go into effect Nov. 1.
