Anytime Fitness Increases to 1,000 Franchises

Anytime Fitness recently opened its 1,000th franchise. The company, which began in 2002, plans to have 2,000 franchises by 2008.

Anytime Fitness is launching its Express clubs, each of which has less than 2,500 square feet and will usually be placed in towns of less than 5,000 people. Like all Anytime Fitness clubs, the Express clubs will operate every hour of every day.

Jeff Klinger, founder and CEO of Anytime Fitness, says the number of repeat owners (40 percent of the company’s franchisees own more than one club) has played a key part in the company’s growth.

“This shows how adaptable our model is in the marketplace, and that the 24-hour concept does not lock you into only one location,” Klinger says.
