Yao Ming Appears at Club Opening in China

SAN RAMON, CA – All-Star basketball player Yao Ming was on hand at the grand opening of his first signature health club, California Fitness–Yao Ming Sports Club, on Sept. 15 in Beijing, China. The 40,000-square-foot club is the first 24 Hour Fitness club in China. California Fitness is a wholly owned unit of 24 Hour Fitness.

Also on hand at the grand opening were Mark Mastrov, 24 Hour Fitness founder and chairman; Steve Clinefelter, president of California Fitness; and actor Jackie Chan, who has several signature California Fitness clubs across Asia.

“The club looks great, and I’m proud to bring California Fitness to mainland China,” Yao said in a statement. “The club truly raises the bar for fitness clubs in China and is the perfect way for people to improve their health and achieve their fitness goals.”
