McDonald’s Awards $15,000 to Philadelphia-area School Health and Fitness Programs

PHILADELPHIA – McDonald’s of the Greater Philadelphia Region Inc. has selected 15 schools in southeastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware to receive $1,000 each through the McDonald’s Go Active! Academic Awards Program.

The program recognizes educational programs that demonstrate an original approach to enhancing the physical fitness, nutrition awareness and/or health education of fifth through eighth grade students. Winning schools will implement selected programs by December.

In its third year, the Go Active! Academic Awards Program has granted $45,000 to Philadelphia-area schools in an effort to encourage balanced active lifestyles.
