Fitness Franchise Owner Named Finalist for Military Spouse of the Year

SILVER SPRING, MD -- A fitness franchise owner and wife of a Navy commander has been named a finalist for Military Spouse magazine’s second annual Military Spouse of the Year award.

Corina DuBois of Silver Spring, MD, was nominated by her husband, Harold DuBois, a commander with Naval District Washington, according to a report in the Washington Post. Harold DuBois has recently returned from a nine-month deployment in Iraq.

Corina DuBois owns Stroller Strides, a national fitness organization that provides strength-building, abdominal and stretching exercise classes to mothers and their stroller-riding children, the newspaper reports. DuBois’s franchise runs classes in four Washington, DC, suburbs. The mother of three—all boys under the age of 4—also is the founder of the Internet company Celebrate Mama!, which offers assistance in marketing and event-planning for mothers.

Military Spouse magazine will recognize one military wife or husband nationwide for patriotism, professionalism and humanity, the newspaper reports. Judges chose DuBois last month as one of 10 Military Spouse of the Year finalists from the Navy. The branch winners will compete for the military-wide Spouse of the Year title in the spring.

Votes for each military branch’s winners will be accepted through Christmas Eve at www.msoy.milspouse.com.
