Air Force Fitness Center Kicks Off Weight-Loss Contest

VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, CA -- The Vandenberg Fitness Center at Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA, began its Weight-Loss Warriors contest this month. The contest, which ends Jan. 6, offers prizes to the top three teams with the most significant weight loss.

An introduction to the cardio room and an introduction to the weight room are two events taking place this month. There will be at least one activity for airmen and airwomen to participate in each month.

Scoring will be done by team participation. Participation by events and participation in workouts each count toward 25 percent of the total score, and overall weight loss and body mass index account for 50 percent of the total score. Five points will be awarded for each event or class that is attended.

“Participation in the programs, events and classes are highly recommended but not mandatory,” says Isea Jones, the sports coordinator at the Vandenberg Fitness Center. “Individuals set their own goals. Our goal is to get customers comfortable working out at the gym and having a healthy lifestyle.”
