Chicago — Life Fitness, Chicago, received three awards in appliance DESIGN magazine's 21st annual Excellence in Design Competition.

Taking home gold, the X7 Elliptical Cross-Trainer that was designed by Life Fitness and Cesaroni Design received top honors in the outdoor/leisure appliance category. The home equipment features electronic stride adjustments, intuitive controls and a modern design.

The newly created Elevation Series received silver awards for the 95T Treadmill and 95X Cross-Trainer. The series features an integrated LCD touch screen, iPod compatibility, USB connectivity and a virtual trainer.

An independent panel of three industrial design experts judged all entries. Evaluation of the entries was based on appearance, human factors, innovation and technical merits. The awards were featured in the magazine's June issue.
