Snap Fitness Ranked No. 1 on New Franchises List

CHANHASSEN, MN -- Franchise Market Magazine ranked Snap Fitness No. 1 on its annual list of the top 100 new franchises in the United States in its fall 2007 issue.

The ranking is based on the number of franchise units a company has as well as a company’s growth rate. Snap Fitness had a 750 percent expansion increase between September 2006 and its projected total of clubs in December 2007. The 24-hour, seven-days-a-week fitness club company had 423 clubs at the beginning of 2007 and plans to end the year with more than 1,200 units. An additional 600 Snap Fitness units are projected for next year, including expansion into Canada.

Snap Fitness, founded in 2003, is the first company to achieve a No. 1 ranking by Franchise Market Magazine, which released its inaugural Top 100 list last year by listing the companies alphabetically.

“We’re honored to be ranked first among this group of innovative, fast-growth concepts,” says Peter Taunton, founder and CEO of Snap Fitness. “Our top ranking is further proof that our business model works. We’re now taking steps to balance growth with long-term sustainability and maximize our franchisees’ investments.”

A total of eight fitness-related franchisors are included in this year’s Top 100 list, including club companies Anytime Fitness (No. 3), Fit Zone for Women (No. 46) and Liberty Weight Loss (No. 94). Those three club companies and Cuts Fitness made last year’s Franchise Market Magazine Top 100 list.
