Personal Trainer Charged With First-Degree Murder
SAN JOSE, CA -- A personal trainer at Fitness USA in Milpitas, CA, will be arraigned on Friday in Santa Clara (CA) County Superior Court for charges of first-degree murder of one of his clients, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
Anthony Davis Evans, 45, was taken into custody Dec. 12. The body of 35-year-old Lisa Nguyen, who was a client of Evans, was found in a landfill on Wednesday. Nguyen went missing Dec. 8 after she failed to return home, her parents told the newspaper.
Authorities allege Evans bludgeoned Nguyen with a metal bar inside his San Jose apartment, the newspaper reported. Investigators say they found blood on the rug in Evans’ bedroom and a bag containing bloody clothing and bedding in his car.
Police praised Nguyen’s siblings for helping them with the case. Her brothers tapped into Nguyen’s cell phone to retrieve her messages, and a man they recognized as Nguyen’s personal trainer had called to invite her to a party, the newspaper reported. The siblings went to Evans’ apartment on Dec. 10 and found their sister’s car parked outside.
