Club Watch

Health Clubs in the Spotlight.

* The Bel Air Athletic Club (Bel Air, Md.) has broken ground for construction of a 20,000-square-foot kids arena that will be known as the BAACYard Clubhouse. It will contain two dance studios, two martial arts studios, a play- zone arcade with active games, and a soft play area for younger children. The gymnasium will include sports such as basketball, soccer, volleyball and roller hockey.

* The Bolingbrook Park District in Illinois has opened its second health club, LifeStyles II fitness center & spa. The facility offers a fully equipped fitness center, gymnasium, competitive gymnastics facility, racquetball courts, martial arts room, group exercise studio, spa area, childcare and a custom rock-climbing wall.

* Sinai WellBridge Health & Fitness in Baltimore has changed its name to LifeBridge Health & Fitness. The name change happened shortly after LifeBridge bought out Monsanto, a company that had been LifeBridge's joint venture partner in Sinai WellBridge. Monsanto, which has exited the fitness business, sold off its other WellBridge facilities to Club Sports International (CSI) last year. CSI is now known as WellBridge.
