The Best of the Best contest is open to any fitness facility that serves the U.S. market. This includes for-profits, nonprofits, corporate, hotel, government, military and university facilities. Winners of this year's contest will be mentioned in the September issue and full articles about each winner will appear online. In addition, winners will be honored at the Club Industry show Oct. 12, 2007, in Chicago. Some of the winners may be asked to offer a short presentation about how their program was put together and the results of the program.

Entry Categories

Best New Member Integration Program

This category focuses on innovative and creative ways that you are integrating new members into your club. The program should be more than a simple orientation program or free personal training. It might include technology being used to track members and their usage of the facility, rewards offered to them for using the club, and the facility’s ability to use this information to adapt its programming, rewards and offerings.

Best Community-based or Non-Member Program

Entries should feature a program developed for non-members held either at the facility or outside the facility but sponsored, organized and/or operated by the fitness facility. The program could include partnerships with other businesses. Generally, the program should be an ongoing program—or one involving several sessions/classes for a set period of time.

Best Children’s Program

Entries in this category should not include your full children's programming but should include your best children's program. It may include specific classes and/or equipment for children. It may involve a partnership with a school or outside business.

Best Senior Program

Entries in this category should be a specific program for seniors, not your full senior programming. Entries should include more than just a social element. However, the program could include a social element as well as nutritional content in addition to exercise.

Best Behavior Modification Program

This category focuses on behavior modification programs, such as nutrition programs, weight loss programs, smoking cessation programs, etc. The program should be for members but can include nonmembers, too.
